Screening Report Turnaround Times

Turnaround times vary based on the type of screening ordered and the applicant’s actions.

TransUnion Full Credit Report:

The turnaround time for the credit report depends on how quickly the applicant completes their part of the process. The report will be available as soon as the applicant finishes their identity verification. Business hours do not play a factor in the completion of the TransUnion Full Credit Report.

RentPrep Background Check:

This Full background check is compiled by an FCRA-certified screener, requiring manual review to ensure accuracy. Typically, the turnaround time is 1-2 hours during normal business hours. If bundled with the TransUnion report, processing begins once the applicant completes their identity verification. Even as part of a complete screening package, the background check component's turnaround remains typically 1–2 business hours.

Income And/Or Employment Verification Add-On:

The turnaround time for income and employment verification depends on the applicant. Both verifications are completed by the applicant within the resident portal. For income verification, the applicant will be prompted to connect their online banking credentials to generate an income report. Once connected and submited, the report will be available for you to view almost instantly. For the employment verification, the applicant will be prompted to connect their employer or payroll credentials to verify employment information. Once connected and submitted, the report will be available for you to view almost instantly. You will receive an completed email notification when each of these reports have been completed and are ready to view. In some cases, delays can occur if the applicant's employer or payroll provider is not supported by the verification platform. In these cases, the applicants will be asked to upload a copy of their paystubs or W-2s which will be ran through fraud detection software.

Business Hours (Eastern Standard Time):

  • Mon-Fri: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM EST

  • Sun: 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM EST

  • Note: Business hours do not include Saturdays, and submissions made outside these hours are queued for the next available business day.

Potential Delays in Processing:

  1. Applicant Inaction: If the applicant has not completed their identity verification with TransUnion, the screening report will not be generated until they do.

  2. Further Investigation Required (RentPrep Background Check): The RentPrep Background Check is compiled by our team using multiple databases. In some cases, additional investigation may be necessary, such as a county or state search. This may result in delays as we wait for court records. If this occurs, you will receive an email notification.

  3. After-hours Submissions: RentPrep Background Checks submitted outside of regular operational hours are queued for review when business hours resume. Since reports are manually reviewed by FCRA-certified screeners to ensure accuracy, processing delays may occur for submissions outside these hours.4. Unsupported Payroll Providers: In cases where an applicant’s payroll provider or employer is not supported by the verification platform, the connection process cannot be completed. As a fallback option, the applicant will be prompted to upload a copy of their W-2 or paystubs which will be ran through fraud detection software. You will be provided with the uploaded documents and an authenticity summary of the fraud detection results.

Completed Report Notifications

You will receive an email notification after each report is completed and ready to view. This means if you ordered the Complete Screening Package + Income Verification you will receive 3 completed email notifications:

  1. Once the applicant has completed their identity verification and the TransUnion Full Credit Report is ready to view

  2. Once a Screener has processed the RentPrep background Check Report and it is ready to view.

  3. When the applicant completes the process for income verification and the report is ready to review.

The order status will change to Ready for Review once ALL reports are ready to view.
