Understanding Basic Terms in Stessa

Updated this week

Overview

Stessa uses a few key terms that are important for navigating and managing your account effectively.

Common Terms Defined

  • Dashboard
Your personalized home screen that shows portfolio/property insights and key numbers like Net Cash Flow, Net Worth, and Cash-on-Cash Return.

  • Portfolio
A collection of one or more properties. Useful for grouping properties by location, ownership, or strategy.

  • Property
An individual real estate asset that you manage within your Stessa account.

  • Connected Accounts
A linked financial account (e.g., checking, savings, credit card, mortgage, property management) used to automatically import transactions.

  • Transactions
Any financial activity related to your property. Transactions power your reports and dashboards.

    • Transactions are imported:

      • Automatically with a connected account

      • Manual input

      • Uploaded with a CVS file.

  • Cash Management Account

A bank account offered through Stessa that you can use to manage money for your rental property. It’s fully integrated with Stessa, making it easy to track finances and collect rent directly through the platform.

Example

Let’s say you own 3 duplexes in Chicago. You can create a portfolio called “Chicago Rentals” and add each duplex as a separate property. If you link your bank account as a connected account, Stessa will automatically pull in your data and update your transactions.
