When your landlord sends your lease, you'll sign it electronically through Rocket Lawyer. There's no printing, scanning, or mailing required.
How do I sign my lease?
Open the email from your landlord and click Review and Sign now to review your lease.
For each signature or initial field, choose Draw or Type.
Click Sign now, then Next box to move to the next field.
Repeat until you reach the final step, then click Save to submit your signature.
Do I need a Stessa account to sign?
No. The link in your email opens Rocket Lawyer's signing portal directly, so you don't need to log in to Stessa.
Why does the step counter show more steps than I expected (e.g., "Step 3 of 4")?
The number of steps matches the number of signature and initial fields in your lease. Some leases ask for initials on individual pages in addition to your final signature.
What happens after I finish signing?
You'll see a confirmation message on screen. Once everyone on the lease has signed, including your landlord, you'll get a notification that your lease is complete.
What if I'm not ready to sign?
You can decline the lease instead of signing it. See Canceling or Declining a Lease Signature for details. If you have questions about the lease terms, reach out to your landlord before signing.
If I have co-tenants, do we sign together?
No. Each tenant receives their own signing link by email and signs separately. You can sign as soon as you receive your link, regardless of whether your co-tenants have signed yet.
Can I sign on behalf of a co-tenant?
No. Each person can only see and complete their own signature fields. Every tenant on the lease needs to sign using their own link.
