How To Connect Stessa to AppFolio

Automatically import your monthly income and expense transactions from Appfolio.

There's no reason to manually enter transactions in Stessa if your property manager is already entering them in AppFolio. Just connect Stessa to AppFolio and import them seamlessly!

Step 1: Make Sure Your AppFolio Owner Portal Is Active

To connect Stessa to AppFolio, your PM must enable your Owner Portal.
If you haven’t received an invite, ask your property manager to:

  • Enable the Owner Portal

  • Send you a signup invite

Step 2: Confirm the “Owner Statement” Report Is Published

Stessa can only import data from the Owner Statement report in your AppFolio Owner portal. Make sure your property manager has published this report. If this report has not been published, you will receive a "No Reports Found" or "Action Required" error when trying to connect.

Step 3: Match Property Addresses

Before connecting, ensure that:

  • The property address in Stessa closely matches the one in AppFolio

  • Ask your PM to use actual addresses (not nicknames or partial entries)

This helps Stessa link the correct properties.

Step 4: Link Your AppFolio Account

  1. Go to your Connected Accounts page in Stessa

  2. Click “+ Add Property Manager”

  3. Enter the full URL of your AppFolio Owner Portal

    • Should start with: https://your-pm-company-name.appfolio.com/oportal

  4. Enter your AppFolio username and password

  5. Click Continue

Step 5: Match Properties (If Needed)

  • Stessa will return a list of matched addresses

  • Match each Stessa property to the correct AppFolio record

  • If some properties aren’t set up yet in Stessa, skip them for now

Step 6: Check Your Transactions Page

  • After the sync completes, go to your Transactions page.

  • You should start seeing imported income and expense data. If you have a lot of data to import, this can take awhile.

Note: AppFolio requires 2FA every 30 days.

If your connection stops syncing:

  • Go to your Connected Accounts page

  • Click “Fix It” next to the AppFolio account

  • Follow the prompts to refresh your login and 2FA
